5 Reasons Why You Should Start a Podcast

Podcasts have been around since 2004, but their rise in popularity doesn’t seem to have peaked yet with 25% of adults in the UK being regular podcast listeners, a number which is increasing every year. There are podcasts on almost every topic from The US Office, to True Crime, to even one about Gnomes. Yes, really. And with how good home audio recording software is these days there is no reason not to start your own. In fact, here are 5 excellent reasons why you should start your own podcast:

1 – Everyone is an expert in something, whether it’s a TV show, gnomes (I’m never going to get over the fact that there’s a gnome podcast) or self-love, and by starting a podcast it’s a great way to share your expertise with the world. It will also position you as an authority in your field.

2 – Appearing on podcasts (whether that’s as a host or as a guest) widens your audience and your network, connecting you with likeminded people and leading to more sales for your business. 50% of UK adults have listened to a podcast at some point, that is a whole load of potential customers!

3 – People mostly listen to podcasts on their own, making them far more personal, leading to a deeper connection than reading a blog post (oh dear…) or watching a video. The fact that you’re probably being listened to whilst the person is driving, cleaning or exercising means they’re listening quite closely to you, and you have a much longer time to capture their attention and get your story across.

4 – Long gone are the days of podcasts being super complicated and needing expensive equipment to get started. They’re so easy to set up, and you can use something as simple as your phone to start off with to record. If you wanted any help with setting up your podcast and doing all the technical bits, I do offer set up packages to help you get going as smoothly as possible, leading onto number 5…

5 – Making podcasts is so much fun! What’s better than talking to people about one of your favourite topics but having it also work for you and your business? Sounds like a win win situation to me.
